TEC201 — Brake Diagnostics and Introduction to ABS

TEC201 — Brake Diagnostics and Introduction to ABS
2 days (16 hours)
*$479 U.S.
1.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) awarded

This workshop is designed with a combination of classroom and hands-on education to enhance the technician’s ability to properly diagnose automotive and light truck braking systems.  We will define the function and diagnostic procedures for brake system components and discuss friction and hydraulic theory, operation and bleeding.  The workshop also includes an introduction to ABS system operation and diagnosis and its relationship to the base brake system.

Prerequisite: Minimum of 2 years automotive experience preferred.

After completing this workshop, the student will be able to:

  • Interpret the proper friction material per vehicle application.
  • Apply hydraulic theory and use brake pressures to reduce diagnostic time and eliminate costly misdiagnosis.
  • Identify measurements of runout and parallelism.
  • Analyze hydraulic and friction failures on passenger cars and light trucks.
  • Discuss the operation of light truck ABS.
  • Diagnose light truck ABS systems on vehicles in the lab.

* Tuition includes lunch, classroom materials, hotel lodging and transportation between the airport/hotel/TEC the evening prior to workshop date, and each full day through the duration of the course.  For those not requiring a hotel room, please call 888-771-6005 or 314-512-8262 for discounted rates.
