2 1/2 days (20 hours) *$549 U.S. 2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) awarded
This workshop is designed for technicians servicing driveability, emission and tune-up repair on today’s vehicles using a combination of classroom and hands-on education. Several fuel delivery system types will be reviewed and diagnostic procedures will be explained using today’s most common testing equipment. A complete comprehensive study of the vehicle's fuel delivery system ranging from the fuel pump to the fuel injector will be covered. Fuel trim diagnostics will be explained and applied using enhanced scan tool information. In-depth lab scope diagnostics will be performed in our service bays to diagnose fuel delivery and fuel injector concerns. Proper fuel pressure and volume testing techniques will be covered using various types of shop equipment. The TEC301 is an excellent preface to the TEC306.
Prerequisite: Attendance of TEC301, TEC305, or ASE Certification in A-6 (Electrical/Electronics) or A-8 (Engine Performance).
After completing this workshop, the student will be able to:
- Test voltage drop and perform current ramp waveform analysis on fuel pump electrical circuits.
- Perform proper pressure and volume testing on fuel delivery systems.
- Diagnose return-type vacuum regulated fuel delivery systems.
- Identify and test mechanical return-less fuel delivery systems.
- Apply diagnostic strategies on electronically controlled return-less fuel delivery systems from Ford, GM, and Toyota/Lexus.
- Diagnose fuel injector faults ranging from electrical failures to flow concerns.
- Interpret scan tool sensor data input information to gain direction to diagnosing fuel delivery concerns.
* Tuition includes lunch, classroom materials, hotel lodging and transportation between the airport/hotel/TEC the evening prior to workshop date, and each full day through the duration of the course.
