2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) awarded This workshop combines classroom and hands-on activities to enhance the diagnostic and service skills of the professional undercar technician in the areas of suspension, steering and wheel alignment. Special emphasis is given to the effects of system components on handling, ride quality and tire life and what symptoms to expect if a part has failed. The relationships between component integrity, alignment geometry, vehicle handling and tire wear are stressed. Customer communications skills are presented to assure a successful repair. This workshop continues to be one of our most popular offerings year after year.
Prerequisite: Minimum of 2 years automotive experience preferred. After completing this workshop, the student will be able to: - Perform accurate vehicle inspections on suspension and steering systems using MAP guidelines and communicate the results effectively.
- Identify the components and operating characteristics of current suspension and steering systems on passenger cars and light trucks.
- Apply time-tested service techniques, tools and problem solving parts to assure accurate steering and suspension repairs in the minimum amount of time.
- Utilize the latest alignment equipment to adjust chassis components for optimum tire life and/or performance.
