4 days (32 hours) *$595 U.S. 3.2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) awarded Designed for the “street/strip” enthusiast and experienced machinist, attendees will acquire knowledge and instruction on the selection and application of Speed-Pro and Fel-Pro performance parts. Attendees will also calculate engine displacement, compression ratio, cam and piston selection, as well as measure cylinder head combustion area and discuss the outcome when selecting high performance engine parts. This session provides hands-on experience in critical machining procedures; knowledge is gained on design changes for proper component selection, assembly, and sealing of engines. Prerequisite: Minimum of 2 years automotive experience preferred. After completing this workshop, the student will be able to: - Recognize effects of disassembly and cleaning procedures on components.
- Identify through inspection and measurement the necessary steps and procedures for machining, repair or replacement of lower block components.
- Be experienced with machining techniques for:
- main bearing alignment
- cylinder heads
- piston and rods
- balancing
- cylinder bore surface finish
- Analyze engine components and kit offerings from Federal-Mogul.
- Identify the correct gasket selection for high performance applications.
