Nitrile rubber, which is resistant to a large variety of oils and greases, is an excellent value in sealing material, given the right temperature environment. Nitrile rubber is heat-resistant up to 250° F (120° C).

Federal-Mogul's Fel-Pro® brand offers rear main seals made with nitrile for many older engine applications where heat resistance is not an issue.
