This workshop is designed with a combination of classroom and hands-on training to enhance the technician’s ability to properly diagnose automotive ABS and traction-control systems. The operation of Honda ABS, Teves MK IV ABS/traction control and Delphi VI ABS/traction-control systems will be discussed. The student will diagnose real-world ABS problems on these systems. Prerequisites include either two years of ABS experience or ASE certification in brakes and electrical.
After completing this workshop, the student will be able to:
- Interpret the function of various ABS systems, including Teves MK IV and Delco VI ABS
- Employ diagnosis to ABS problems
- Discern traction control when utilized with ABS
- Comprehend the function of traction control
- Identify ABS bleeding techniques utilizing the Wagner® Brake Bleeding Sequence Guide
- Apply ABS bleeding techniques to reduce comebacks
- Identify base brake system problems relating to unwanted ABS application and what steps to take to correct customer complaints
- Appropriately repair ABS systems to satisfy customer complaints
