4 days (32 hours) $595 U.S. 3.2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) awarded
Designed for the “street/strip” enthusiast and experienced machinist, this course offers instruction on the selection and application of Speed-Pro® and Fel-Pro® performance parts. Technicians learn to calculate engine displacement, compression ratio, cam and piston selection, and how to measure the cylinder head combustion area. They’ll discuss the outcome when selecting high-performance engine parts. The course provides hands-on experience in critical machining procedures, and technicians perform computer analysis for best application of engine, drivetrain and tires in relation to vehicle weight. They’ll gain knowledge on design changes for proper component selection, assembly and sealing of engines.
After completing this workshop, the student will be able to:
- Recognize the effects of disassembly and cleaning procedures on components
- Identify through inspection and measurement the necessary steps and procedures for machining, repair or replacement of lower-block components
- Recognize and perform machining techniques for:
- Main bearing alignment
- Piston and rods
- Cylinder bore
- Cylinder heads
- Balancing
- Analyze engine components and kit offerings from Federal-Mogul
- Identify the correct gasket selection for high-performance applications
