Phosphating

(Zinc Phosphate or Manganese Phosphate Coating)
The surface of the ring is transformed by chemical treatment into phosphate crystals. The phosphate coating is softer than the ring base material and therefore wears more easily and hence quickens the bedding-in of the ring. These coatings are produced in thicknesses of between 2 and 5 µm.
